About Me

My name is Amanda, and that handsome guy in the photo above is my husband, Mike. I am 27 years old and began sponsoring with Compassion International in August 2008. Mike and I have been married since June 2010 and live just north of Boston. I currently work at a Christian college while my husband is a teacher. God has blessed us enormously, and I am so thankful that He has given us the ability to share our lives with a number of sponsored children. I became a Child Advocate a year ago and am loving it. It is an absolute joy to watch a partnership form between a sponsor and their child!

I am especially passionate about encouraging letter writing between sponsors and their children. I caught the "travel bug" in June 2012 when I went on my first sponsor tour to Honduras. It was life changing, to say the least. This trip ignited a fire in me to travel and show Christ's love to our children around the world, but especially in Latin America. Over the last two years I have been to Honduras five times, and have also traveled to Ecuador and the Dominican Republic. Clearly, Honduras has my heart!

God has worked some incredible miracles in our lives as well as in the lives of our sponsored children. I hope that you will take a moment to browse through some of my past entries. Stirling's story is particularly important.
